The home was purpose-built for residents requiring different degrees of nursing care; midcare, assisted living and frail care. Holiday care, day care and convalescent care are also offered. Built in the style of an old farmhouse, Westview Lodge Randburg Old Age Home accommodates 22 residents in luxury bedsitters with bathrooms en-suite. There is a high level of comfort: rooms are equipped with private phones, automatic heaters, built-in cupboards, M-Net and all are wired for DSTV. Large patios lead onto lovely gardens specially created for elderly residents. Residents are offered independence and companionship in a supportive environment. They are treated to delectable meals and have at their disposal a hairdresser, aromatherapist, reflexologist, podiatrist, and masseuse to pamper them. Other activities are available to residents who wish to keep active physically and mentally, including a taxi service to shops and cinemas. An occupational therapist visits twice a weeks and designs individual activity programs. These include: flower pressing, chocolate moulding, knitting, games, and card games. Exercise classes with music are also on offer once a week. Professional nursing is available on a 24-hour basis. Westview Lodge Randburg Old Age Home is run by matron Wilson who, in turn, is assisted by a group of dedicated nursing sisters and careworkers. A house doctor is available and visits when needed. Innovative personnel management has ensured that the staff running the home is of the highest calibre and that nursing processes are in place. Staff is continuously trained in areas such as nursing, cleaning and food preparation as well as in more specialised areas such as team work and customer service.
