Privacy Policy

CareMap ("we", "us") operates the directory at caremap.co.za, a free service that helps people in South Africa find senior care, retirement, and special-needs facilities, and helps caregivers find work. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Information we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us through our forms:

• Enquiries: your email, and optionally what care you are looking for and where.
• Contact messages: your name, email, and your message.
• Caregiver job applications: your name, phone number, email, location, roles, experience, and any details you add.

We also collect basic, anonymous usage statistics (such as which pages are visited) to improve the site. We do not build advertising profiles of you.

Health and other special information

When you tell us about a person's care needs (for example a medical condition, dementia, or a disability), that is "special personal information" under POPIA. We only collect it when you choose to share it, we use it only to help find suitable care, and by submitting the form you consent to us processing it for that purpose. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see Your rights below).

Why we use your information

• To respond to your enquiry or message.
• To help connect you with care facilities, or - for job applicants - with facilities that may be hiring.
• To improve the directory and the help we provide.

Our lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit a form.

Who we share it with

• Facilities and operators relevant to your enquiry, and - for caregiver applications - facilities that may be hiring, so they can contact you.
• Trusted service providers who help us run the service (for example secure hosting and messaging), under confidentiality obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not post your details publicly.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purpose you gave it for, and then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.

Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct or update it.
• Ask us to delete it, or to stop using it.
• Withdraw your consent at any time.
• Complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe we have not handled your information properly.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
