Retirement Village

Waterfall Gardens Retirement Village is a village of free-standing cottages in Waterfall, KwaZulu-Natal, built in a number of styles in three unit types (Cape Dutch, Tudor and Constantia). According to the home's website, it covers 14 hectares and has 150 houses. Cottages generally operate on a buy-and-sell basis under a Lifetime-Use Agreement, under which the buyer and spouse may occupy the unit for the rest of their lives; viewings are by appointment and applicants are placed on a waiting list. A Community Centre is the hub of the village's social activities and has a dining room serving midday meals. A Personal Care Centre offers nursing care for recuperating patients and for people no longer able to care for themselves in their own homes. It takes a maximum of 15 people in single or double rooms and is staffed 24 hours a day by qualified nursing sisters or staff nurses and certificated care givers.
