Die Oog Aftree Landgoed

Die Oog Aftree-Landgoed sits on a 200-hectare property at a natural mineral spring at the foot of the Waterberg, on the Mineralebronne Road (R520) outside Mookgophong (formerly Naboomspruit) in Limpopo, roughly an hour and a half from Pretoria. It began as a holiday resort and was converted into a retirement estate, so its facilities were established from the outset and added to since. More than 500 units are registered to owners and the estate states it serves more than 700 residents. The estate is built around an active retirement - the site describes it as a place where a resident can still work part-time, keep learning, travel, earn an income, invest and socialise. Homes are bought on sectional title: an owner holds their house plus a share in the estate and its facilities, and is free to sell, let or transfer it, and owners do let units from time to time. Monthly levies are set each year by the body corporate at its annual general meeting and are payable monthly in advance; they cover maintenance of common areas and infrastructure, security services including access control and night patrols, water and purification services, estate management and administration, and other facilities including the healthcare centre, garden services and cleaning. The exact levy varies with the size of the unit. Health care on site runs through an existing 29-bed centre offering four levels of care, in partnership with SAVF, which has been a care organisation since 1904 and provides full-time qualified staff. A larger 127-bed centre focused on specialised memory care for Alzheimer's and dementia, along with further assisted-living units, is planned and not yet open.
