Bergville Retirement Village
8th Avenue, George - Denneoord, George, Western Cape
Bergville Retirement Village is a retirement village in Denneoord, George, for active people aged 50 or older. It was established in 1997 and is registered as a Sectional Title Scheme, so owners have title to their own cottages and share ownership of the common property. The village consists of 120 one-, two- and three-bedroomed terrace houses, with ramps provided for wheelchair access. It is self-managed: annually elected Trustees manage the village on behalf of residents, assisted by staff. The community centre, a building from the 1940s, houses a post-operative hospital and the village's frail care facility, as well as the offices, dining room and kitchen. The kitchen provides meals to residents on request. Community facilities include a lounge, library, hairdressing salon and a hobbies and games room. Pets are permitted subject to the approval of the Trustees.
